This provides an upgrade to the latest version of Go, and moves to Gitlab's official Go client package. This requires developers to upgrade their Go version to at least 1.25.1, in order to use the new dependency. This PR will auto-build the new binary and tie new versions of this plugin to rebuilds of the plugin for every subsequent release.
This PR includes other minor bugfixes.
This is a #MAJOR release.
