Describe the bug

I wanted to add the markitdown-mcp server, that is already installed on the system.

The error Command is required for local servers is shown, even if the command is correctly added.

Affected version

GitHub Copilot CLI 0.0.401-1.

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. Start copilot-cli
  2. Type /mcp add
  3. Add server name markitdown-mcp
  4. Add Command: markitdown-mcp
  5. Leave Environment Variables and Tools empty
  6. ctrl+s to save

Expected behavior

MCP server is added to user-level mcp-server.json

Additional context

  • Operating System: Windows 11 (25H2)
  • Terminal: Windows Terminal Preview
  • Shell: Powershell 7.6.0-preview.4
  • CPU: x64
